Getting Around Shreveport

When visiting Shreveport, Louisiana, one needs to know how to get around the city. There are various forms of transportation, both public and private. One needs to choose both his transportation to the city and what will be used while in the city.

There are a few different options when traveling to Shreveport. There are two airports located within city limits, so air travel is an option. These are the Downtown Airport and the Shreveport Regional Airport. One may also choose to arrive by train. Amtrak has both short and long distance trains going to and from Shreveport, some of which have food service or sleeper cars. Buses are another common travel choice. There are also boat cruises that may carry you along the river. Of course, one may also travel by car, which would also provide transportation in town.

Two other bus companies found in town are Greyhound and Red River Coaches. There are also multiple taxi companies found in Shreveport, such as Able Taxi, Yellow Checker Cab, and Golden Stripe Cap Company. Taxis and buses are nice for those that really do not know the area very well. Groups can also reserve a trolley or minibus at A-1 Charter.
